| Name: | Giselle (Original) |
|---|
| Ever Ever After |
![]() Character: Giselle Series/Fandom: Enchanted Original or Template version: Original Age: Roughly early 20’s Gender: Female Species: Surprisingly human Sexuality: True Love’s Kiss-sexual (Straight, really) Room: A little flat near the largest park in the city Mark: Not marked Appearance: Giselle is a princess-to-be from a fairy tale world, so it should come as no great shock that she is beautiful. Like most cliché fairy princesses, it is an innocent sort of beauty. Everything about her feels young and her wide-eyed looks and bright smiles hold nothing back. She has vibrant red hair that is naturally wavy and curls at the ends which also falls over fair skin down to her lower back. It is usually kept up in ribbons, pins and bows and perhaps the occasional tiara. Although her eyes are gray, they somehow seem brighter, tinged in that magic glow fairy tales are famous for. Her frame is slim, not necessarily thin or dainty – although her overdramatic mannerisms can give that impression – but certainly not full figured (read: She’s not a top heavy future princess). Giselle usually wears dresses she has made herself out of whatever happens to be nearby (unfortunately, this usually means Robert’s curtains and sheets). Although her wedding dress was extremely poofy, her day to day dresses are wispy and soft, hanging delicately off her body. Personality: First and foremost, Giselle is innocent. It is difficult to stress just how innocent she is. Giselle has lived in a cottage in the forest all her life, surrounded by cartoon animals and dreaming of love. Clearly, not the most worldly girl. She has difficulty grasping emotions like anger –and is surprised to find she carries that emotion – and such concepts as divorce and anything outside of her perfect little bubble world. And just forget about her understanding innuendo of any kind. Not going to happen. It isn’t that she doesn’t know about these things, rather just that they would never occur to her, to the point where she has forgotten they exist. Simply put, Giselle just doesn’t think anymore and only goes by feelings, expressing them openly. Because of this, she is easily moved to tears hearing about the troubles of other people. Giselle isn’t one to hide things, voicing what she thinks on a matter, not because of arrogance but rather out of the ignorant bliss that she lives in, seeing no reason to hide her opinions. Even if she doesn’t understand these things, she does try to understand them. Giselle often works things out in her mind to make sense to her, even if they rarely make sense to other people. Giselle brand logic is very special. For example, this way of thinking leads her to react in wonder to things like showers and see no reason why she can’t drink out of a fishbowl. Speaking of her logic, a lot of it is based off her belief in love, hope and kindness. She believes absolutely, truly and faithfully in true love. All of her thoughts are occupied with love and her life has always revolved around the idea of receiving “true love’s kiss.” These simple aspirations have led to her simple way of thinking. The complexity of the real world confuses her, as she can’t imagine why people would have to complicate things so much. In her world, love happens, love works and love lasts perfectly forever. ‘Happily ever after’ is the only future and the harsh world of New York leaves her feeling almost brokenhearted. However, while Giselle may not have all her marbles, she’s dedicated and strong, putting herself wholly into tasks and refusing to give up on her dreams or her friends. She’s even willing to risk her life for her beliefs and fight for them (with a sword, no less). Giselle is usually wearing a bright smile and doing whatever she can to bring happiness to others. She puts blind trust into everyone, not even remotely cautious, caring about every living creature. She’s happiest when she’s helping others and carries a song in her heart rather literally. When it comes down to it, she’s sweet, innocent, with a big heart and a ton of determination. Abilities/Strengths: Interpretive dance and cleaning. Well, almost. Giselle, like any good fairy tale movie character, has an impressive singing voice – with seemingly choreographed dancing – imbued with magical powers. Her voice has the ability to summon woodland friends to help her in times of need. This special bond with animals allows her to understand them and control them in some ways, getting their obedience when it comes to helping her in tasks like cooking, delivering messages, sewing, etc. Giselle is highly talented at sewing on her own, however, and is capable of quickly and easily sewing wonderful clothes out of the materials at hand (again, usually at the expense of innocent curtains). She is also a good cook, wonderful at cleaning and just generally perfect in ‘domestic’ issues. Her fairytale imbued abilities also give her a strange blessing of success towards any task she puts herself to (like, say, perfect aim with a sword in a desperate move). Her strong faith in her beliefs and her friends is a source of great strength. Giselle’s innocence and sweetness also moves people naturally, perhaps convincing them of her views or gaining their friendship. Weaknesses: Giselle’s naïve outlook on life causes her to miss the complexities and become confused at the day to day lives of most normal people. Although she was able to take care of herself in her world, she has difficulties living outside of it thanks to her ignorance. By putting trust into everyone she meets, she naturally is easily led and would drink a poison without a second thought. It also causes her to give second chances that perhaps should not be given. Her lack of knowledge of the real world causes her to be basically absent of common sense. She’ll freely walk around even the worst, most dangerous parts of town and count on the commonplace ‘rescued just in time’ moments of her fairytale world. By trying to be kind to all she puts herself in unnecessary amounts of danger. Giselle is also not physically strong and doesn’t have any special offensive abilities, leaving her unprotected if alone. In some ways, her fairytale nature is also a weakness in that it singles her out and makes her an easy target for ridicule. She is also initially set in her beliefs. Although she is open-minded and happy to learn, old habits die hard. For example, even once her thoughts on love begin to change, she still has a hard time accepting them. History: Giselle was born in the land of Andalasia, your stereotypical fairytale land (and indeed, appears to be the land of all fairytales). Nothing is known about her childhood. She mentions never having been with her mother and there is no mention of a father at all. Queen Narissa also mentions having done her best to keep Giselle isolated, possibly meaning Giselle has lived nearly her entire life alone in a fair size cottage in the woods. She does indeed act like she’s lived a life in high isolation. Regardless, her story starts on a normal day spent with her animal friends. They spend the morning rebuilding her dream prince from random things lying around the house as Giselle entertains them with song about the true love’s kiss that she longs for. However, afterwards she gets ready for her day and things continue on as normal until a troll suddenly shows up on her doorstep, expecting a meal. Namely: Giselle. Giselle runs, climbing up a tree to escape the giant. Thanks to the extra weight of her best friend, the chipmunk Pip, the branch begins to break and sends Giselle tumbling to the ground, where she is caught by Prince Edward. The two realize they were destined for each other because they are able to finish each other’s duets and decide to get married the very next day. Giselle’s animal friends help an excited and nervous Giselle get ready for the wedding but not everyone was happy about the arrangements. Queen Narissa worries that when her stepson, Prince Edward, marries, she’ll lose the throne. Thus, she hatches a scheme to dispose of Giselle. As Giselle races to the castle, the queen intercepts her in disguise as an old woman, tricking her into going to an enchanted well to make a wish on her wedding day. As Giselle shuts her eyes to wish, the queen shoves her forward and down the well. Pip sees her fall and instantly goes to inform the prince of the disaster. Meanwhile, Giselle falls through a really damn beautiful nebula thing and gets covered in pretty glitter and damn that part is pretty. …Erm, anyway, moving on. When Giselle reaches the other end, she finds herself in New York City. Naturally, she doesn’t understand anything and wanders around, lost and confused, begging for help, until she ends up in a rough area of town in the pouring rain. Finally she spies a castle – which is in fact just a casino prop – and climbs up trying to gain access to the castle. It just so happened that at that moment, Robert Philip and his daughter Morgan were passing by in a taxi. Morgan, infatuated with fairytales, spied Giselle and when the taxi stopped, raced out to see her. Robert followed just in time to catch Giselle as she fell. Realizing she was in obvious distress, he took her back to his apartment with the intent of phoning a cab for her and kicking her out. However, Giselle promptly fell asleep on the couch, defeating Robert’s plan. Morning came and Giselle spent the morning cleaning with her new animal friends and sewing a new dress out of Robert’s curtains. She showered, caused a lovely misunderstanding with Robert’s girlfriend Nancy, and is dragged out to be watched by Robert. She caused more misunderstandings at the law firm Robert works at, getting Robert in trouble with his boss. Angry with Giselle, he threw her outside and tries talking with her but eventually got frustrated, shoved some money at her and let her loose. Robert immediately regretted it as Giselle handed the money over readily to the first person she meets, proving she can’t be left alone. He followed her around and they discussed love, dating and relationships, leading to fascinating discoveries for both parties (like Giselle learning the concept of ‘dating’). Still, Giselle felt the need to give Robert love advice in the form of a giant musical number, which naturally led Robert to think everyone in the park was crazy. A call from Nancy, however, sounded promising and the two headed over to see her. However, on the way, Giselle once again met with the fateful manhole that first brought her to New York. This new tumble brought her not to Andalasia but instead to Template. |
